CHIMERA 2011: MORE LARP THAN YOU CAN SHAKE A FOAM SHOVEL AT

Arriving on Friday was a great start to a great weekend;
walking in, remembering back to last year's Chimera,
thinking "It's been a year. I don't think I'm a New Guy anymore" Dave

Welcome

Chimera is back for its fourth year and it is set to be bigger and more larptastic than ever before. Last year, Chimera played host to twenty five larp games in more than half a dozen genres, and had over one hundred larpers involved over the course of the weekend. The convention had attendees not just from Auckland but from other centres including Hamilton, Wellington, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, the East Coast, Dunedin and even from overseas!

This year, Chimera is preparing to host up to 30 games. Theatreform larp writing is taking off in New Zealand, with most of our games this year being New Zealand originals written especially for Chimera, alongside a handful of popular ovearseas scenarios rerun for New Zealand audiences. More than 600 roles will be assumed over the weekend, so this is your big chance to play cyberpunk anarchists,1920s Wodehouse socialites, circus performers, Gauls and Romans, feuding deities, squabbling royalty, deadly diseases, priests and nuns, private detectives, businessmen, barbarians, fantasy heroes, droids and Jedis, gangsters, superheroes and the hapless sort of innocents that get caught up in horror movies. Whether you're looking to play old favourites or to stretch your roleplaying horizons, we've got it at Chimera 2011.

With over one hundred participants expected from all over New Zealand, Chimera is a great way for new larpers to meet the community, and for returning larpers to see old friends. Chimera now takes place over the whole of Motu Moana Scout Camp, with added accommodation and playing space. Chimera 2011 is going to be a massive event in the larping calendar, so register today and bring your friends!
